Being a Christian is not always comfortable and the decisions we have to make are hard. I’m a firm believer that it’s important to know the truth. It’s the truth that sets us free. Who do you trust when you desire to base a decision on truth?
For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything he does. Psalm 33:4 (NLT)
I make my decisions in life according to God’s word and guidance of the Holy Spirit. I see most issues in life as either right or wrong. I regret the times in my past where I worried about my reputation more than making the right choice. I confess that there have been too many times that I’ve went the wrong way because of my selfishness.
Now I hold closely in my heart the message that Paul shares with the Church in Philippians 2. Christ didn’t come to make a reputation for Himself. Why then make one for myself? Instead Paul gives clear direction on how we should live. I will share just part of that here and please see Philippian 2 for the complete version.
Shine Brightly for Christ Philippians 2:12b-16a (NLT)
Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. 13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
14 Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. 16 Hold firmly to the word of life;
As Christians we must be very careful to not take God’s word out of context to fit our wants. When we do this we are showing God that we don’t trust Him with all of our hearts. We have a tendency as humans with sinful flesh to put ourselves in harm without even realizing it until we get hurt. We do this by not taking God’s word seriously. God’s truth is to protect us. I have stepped out of God’s protection enough to know that it isn’t a good place to be. The enemy ripped me apart and stomped on me.
God’s amazing grace has set me free and now I see how God’s truth keeps me living a life of peace.
13 But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future]. John 16:13 (AMPC)
At age fifty I can truly say that life for me is full of joy!!! I seek God’s wisdom more seriously. It’s not easy and I do miss the mark. However when I fall I get up quicker than the last time. I study His word and this gives me assurance that I’m living accordingly to His ways.
based on the hope and divine guarantee of eternal life, [the life] which God, who is ever truthful and without deceit, promised before the ages of time began, and at the appointed time has made known His word and revealed it as His message, Titus 1:2-3a (AMP)
He is faithful and will do what He says He will do!
Dear Sister in Christ rest in His message today.
Trust In A Truthful God.
